It was NEARLY a sad day for Dog Woods ...

...when the Dog Woods proud Pack of TEN nearly became EIGHT!

That was when the mischevious Fur Kids Tubby Jr. and Brandi found a weakness in the fence and disappeared into the bushes across the road.

The Chief and other Dog Woods human inhabitants trudged and drove up and down the neighbourhood hollering (well, that's what it sounded to us canine of super hearing!) for Tubby and Brandi to return. It was dinner time anyway, and surely, they MUST be hungry.

But obviously they were too caught up in the excitment of their escape they forgot about their hunger - for at least a few hours.

As the twilight of the evening fell into darkness, the humans began to worry ...

Chief fretted that they may have wandered too far and have lost scent of home. Or unwittingly annoy some venomous reptile - the occassional cobras and monitor lizards have been found to slither /scuttle across the road. Or worst, eaten! The Chief once chanced upon a huge long python warming itself across the tarred road just outside of Dog Woods!

It is a jungle out there, after all!

Not being very street smart, the Chief also worried how the FurKids would react when they stumbled upon the main roads of zooming cars.

Inspite of the Chief's increasing fears, she stood calling where they were last seen with huge torch light flashing into the darkness ... hoping, just hoping that they would see the light and follow the light home.

And sure enough, after what it seemed like the longest while, indisputable puppy panting could be heard in the distance (we heard them even before the humans did!). The Kids were making their way back - the undergrowth was very thick and trudging back was hard going. Eventually out poked a very hot and tired pup. The Chief had to pull them out of the tangling undergrowth of vines, brambles and bushes.

Anywoos. We're (both humans and canine) are simply relieved they are found. We're glad (esp. the Chief) they had the good sense to come home ... that running off to have adventures in the great out there is really not that fun after all!

  1. I hope Laska heard the panting and is getting khloser to Sam too!

My mom khould 'feel' your sign of relief in the post!

  2. That is a very good ending to this story. I am a runner too, but only if someone leaves the door open. I am trying to learn not to do this, so maybe you should too!

  3. Humans just can't understand the lure of the unknown for us. But we're so glad you are still 10!

  4. Oh very bad bad puppies! The Chief must have been out of her mind with worry.

  5. You must have been so worried. Samba ran off into the woods when she was a pup and was gone for several hours. I was terrified that she would get lost or hurt. When she came home she was all happy and excited.

I'm so glad the story had a happy ending. Tell those naughty puppies that there is no place like home.

  6. Oh we are so glad they returned.... we couldn't take another tragedy this week.

  9. We are sooooo glad the furkids came back home! Our mom knows the feeling the Chief must have had. At some point, all 3 of us have escaped! (never all at the same time). Mom says it's a sickening feeling! We are very happy you are all together again!

  10. I'm so glad they came back alive and well. I 'scaped once and got hit by a car while my mom watched. I was still a pup and the lady saw me coming (cause Mom and Grandma were chasing me) so I didn't get hurt. My mom says she understands how stressed Chief must've been.
    Love and hugs,

  18. Oh, I know how rough that was for you! It was four weeks ago yesterday that our fur-kids took off and Sissy came back a couple of hours later, alone... I'm so glad Tubby Jr. and Brandi made it home safely!! I hope they didn't make you wait 19 hours for a happy ending, like Gretchen did.

  19. Our Mom was panting by the time she got to the end of this story. We are all so glad they returned safe and sound and together.

  21. OH NO! Its a mean world out there, stay close to your humans!!!

  22. That is wicked scary. I know they were just on a grand adventure, but there are things out there that they are not prepared for. Glad they made it home in one piece.

  23. Wooo! I am sure your two had a fun adventure, although Mom and Dad get very upset when we do that, look at lost Laska for instance. Be careful and try very hard to stay home.

  24. What a relief!! So glad you had a happy ending.

    love & wags,

  25. What a scare! The Chief did a good job of thwarting that jailbreak...

  26. How scary! I did that once and got in BIG trouble! (After lots of relieved kisses, of course!) Glad you're still a pack o' 10!

  27. Oh dear, just reading this had me on pins and needles. Thank goodness all is well and everyone is safe and sound!!

  28. Whew, glad this one had a happy ending. So did the humans have to do a fence repair? Tell those two not to scare us like that again.

    woos, the OP Pack

  29. We are so glad that the pups came home safely. What a scare though.

  30. oh, my goodness! that was a scarey story. I am glad it ended well. I did that once and ended up in an empty swimming pool that had no steps. Mom had to follow my barks!

  31. That is a scary story!! Glad to hear you are all safe and sound!

  32. Phew! I am glad everyone got home safely. Love, Dino

  33. Oh my dog! That be so scary for your human!!! I bet she needed a vodka after all that stress!!

I must admit, I once did something similar myself, I managed to find a weakness in a fence, at a dog training ground no less, where (ironically) my pawrents had taken me for recall training! I ran like the wind into the distance, free as a bird, with the humans in hot persuit. I stopped to relieve myself after all that running, and whoosh, they had a lead on me in seconds! I mean I was going to come back, like your guys were, just a case of getting bored first!
    Luv Scotty xx
